Bio

Hello!

My name is Dianne Lehmann Goldman.

I am a scholar and musician based in the Chicago suburbs.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, I moved to the Chicago area in 2005 to pursue a doctorate in musicology from Northwestern University. My research on Mexican sacred music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries took me to Mexico City, Puebla, and other Mexican cities as well as several European countries. In 2014, I completed my dissertation, entitled "The Matins Responsory at Mexico City Cathedral, 1575-1815."

Since 2014, I've held teaching positions at Columbia College Chicago, University of Maryland College Park, and most recently I was appointed Assistant Professor of Music at Elmhurst University! I teach the music history survey courses, Latin American Musics, Music in Judaism and Jewish Culture, History of the Symphony, and various other classes as needed. I recently published an edition of Ignacio Jerusalem's Requiem (1760) with A-R Editions and other projects are in the works.

I play violin and oboe, as well as baroque violin and baroque oboe. Currently, I play violin in and conduct the Wilmetsky Klezmer Orchestra hosted by my synagogue Beth Hillel B'nai Emunah. I also sing alto and sometimes soprano in Kol Zimrah
